The water in the swimmingpools is something warm, so I need hydration. Also, it prevent me from muscle cramps in fast performances.

Responded Apr 24, 2009 06:55AM

I don't drink water at practice, I use energy drinks, otherwise I could faint...either during or right after training.

Responded Apr 24, 2009 11:13AM

Yes, not only water, but isotonic drink.

Responded Apr 24, 2009 02:50PM

Cool pic. Looks like he's really enjoying the drink, and it emphasizes the importance of bringing fluids to workout.

Does anyone have an idea what a swimmer with diabetes could use as an energy drink during practice? There are two diabetic swimmers on the Masters team that I coach and they've asked what they can use instead of the usual Gatorade, Powerade, etc.

Responded Apr 24, 2009 04:04PM

They make a great energy drink I get at GNC its called Isopure comes in different flavors and its sugar free. Good stuff.

It means to me that summer is coming.(I swim in an open pool in sicily)

Responded Apr 28, 2009 04:53PM

Hate to be a naysayer here, but that water bottle is WAY TOO SMALL! Unless you are refilling it three times a workout, you should be drinking much more during a workout.

Responded Apr 28, 2009 05:20PM

But Dave... you don't know how long the workout was. ;) But important input for those who don't know how much to drink... probably more than expected... right?

To me it means he's about in need of a refill, its always best to be clear, no?

Responded Apr 29, 2009 01:08AM

For me that'd probably be bottle number 4 or 5. Don't know if its the pool we're in or what but I somehow go through about 3-4 Litres/Hr I'm in the pool.

Responded Apr 29, 2009 02:02AM

I agree. where is his cap????

Responded Apr 29, 2009 12:59PM

Not everyone wears caps in practice.
